Track points

Track points

The total recorded points do no affect to the total Km covered, but they do to the accumulated rised/descended meters.

If there are recorded few points per Km, we will have poor information, so that the total accumulated meters will be less than the real one. If we have so much points, then we will have so much information  and we will have so much accumulated mistakes, so that the accumulated meters will be more than the real ones.

Switching on the GPS with anticipation

Switching on the GPS with anticipation

When you switch on the GPS it takes a little time to find the position. At that very moment, the position mistake is very high, 100 meters, 200 meters or even more. The heigh precision is, as well, very poor. As new satellites are found, the mistake gets lower, until +/- 3-7 meters aproximatelly.

When doing a large stop

When you have to do a large stop (breakfast) and so you disconnect the GPS, you should stop recording before switching it off. If not, the first recorded points will have a considering mistake next time you switch it on, especially on the point height.

Likewise, when switching it on after the stop, just before recording points, make sure that the satellite reception is good.

If you don't take this point into account, the track will not be trusty as well as the results.
